Reflecting on the inception of his relationship with Lil Wayne, Canadian rapper Drake revisited a humorous memory.
During a conversation in Turks and Caicos with Lil Yachty, Drake shared that Wayne initially mispronounced his name as “Drizzy Drake Rogers” when they collaborated on the 2008 track “Ransom.”
Wayne mistakenly associated “Rogers” with one of Canada’s prominent internet providers, assuming it to be Drake’s last name due to their exchange of tracks via email. Upon the release of “Ransom,” Drake noticed the error but chose not to correct his mentor.
Despite the mix-up, their subsequent successful collaborations led both artists to secure spots in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 50 rappers list. However, Wayne disputed his ranking, expressing disagreement with being placed seventh while Drake claimed the eighth spot. In a recent interview with Apple Music, Wayne argued that he should be held in higher regard than Jay-Z, Eminem, and even the late Tupac and Biggie.
