After a long and valiant struggle with bipolar depression, Emmy-winning soap star Billy Miller tragically took his own life at the age of 43.
Following his passing in Austin, Texas, last week, Patricia Miller, his mother, confirmed the news in a statement and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support their family received from friends and fans.
In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, Patricia said, “He fought a long, hard, valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to manage the illness. He loved his family, friends, and fans, but in the end, the illness overpowered him, and he chose to end his life.”
Addressing speculation about her son’s death, Patricia clarified, “the other reported causes of death are false.”
She added, “I wish they were true, but they just aren’t. We all adored him and are struggling to cope with our loss. I have nothing more to say. Thank you for the love and support.”
Miller’s manager had previously confirmed that the Young & Restless star passed away at 43 in Austin, Texas, revealing that the actor was grappling with manic depression at the time of his death.
During his career, Billy Miller portrayed the character of Billy Abbott in The Young and the Restless, earning three Emmy Awards for his performance. He also appeared in General Hospital and All My Children.
