The request for spousal support from his estranged wife Alvina Anderson has been agreed to by American actor Anthony Anderson.
Court documents obtained by PEOPLE state that the 51-year-old black-ish alum will pay retroactive spousal support to his estranged wife, with the amount to be determined by the ex-couple’s joint forensic accountant after investigating their individual finances.
Alvina has requested the court to make spousal support orders retroactive to March 1, 2022, or the date of their separation, as per her court filings. However, Anthony’s legal team argues that payments should not be retroactive before June 1, 2022.
As part of their mutual agreement, the couple has decided to sell their property in Encino, California, and split the profits evenly.
The court has also ordered Anthony to co-sign a 12-month lease with his wife to help her secure alternate housing.
The wife of the former Law & Order star filed for divorce for the second time on March 25, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for her request for dissolution.
Anthony responded to the request in March, stating that the couple officially separated on Feb. 25.
This is not the first time his wife has sought divorce from the actor. She previously filed for divorce in 2015 and requested spousal support before dismissing the petition in 2017.
Anthony and Alvina, high school sweethearts, began their 30-year relationship and tied the knot in September 1999. They have a daughter, Kyra, 26, and a son, Nathan, 22.
Reflecting on how they met, Anthony told Parade in December, “My sophomore year, her freshman year, I knew a girl who lived in the apartment, so I went to knock on the door to invite her to this party that me and my buddies were having. My wife answered the door. I was like, ‘I was coming to invite Stacey to this party we’re having.’ Stacey didn’t show up, but my wife did — and we have been together ever since that night.”
“We got married on our 10-year anniversary. She’s quiet, I’m loud. Opposites attract,” he added.
