Cody Rhodes has had his say on whether AEW would be a good fit for Bray Wyatt, praising the recently released wrestler in the process.
A few years ago, when a wrestler was released by WWE the options were limited. There was certainly nowhere to go where they would get the same exposure they had become accustomed to in WWE. AEW might not be at the same level as WWE, but it has changed that drastically. Not just through its own work, but also via its collaborative efforts with the likes of Impact and New Japan.
Will Bray Wyatt Be All Elite?
Whenever a WWE Superstar is released, which has happened a lot lately, the first assumption is that they will eventually show up in AEW. That possibility has already been discussed in terms of Bray Wyatt who was let go over the weekend. During a recent media call, Cody Rhodes was asked about whether that might happen by Wrestling Inc.
"I can't comment on if I see a spot for him, but I can tell you, [he’s] an incredibly creative individual and an incredibly creative man," Rhodes said. The EVP did make it clear before the call started that he wouldn't be answering questions about rumors. However, that warning was likely in relation to reports that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan will soon be showing up in AEW.
AEW Cannot Pass On Bray Wyatt
Rhodes ended his comments on Wyatt by adding, "I can say that if he has an ounce of passion for this, he can fit anywhere because he's a special, special talent." AEW has been criticized for picking up too many of WWE's cast-offs. However, those same fans have questioned why the likes of Wyatt, Andrade, and Malakai Black were let go in the first place. AEW would be foolish not to sign wrestlers of that stature and ability if given the chance.
Whether Wyatt will show up in AEW one day and when that might be is anyone's guess. The reason for his release still remains unclear with conflicting reports coming from various sources. The underlying reason appears to be that while he and Vince McMahon got along, their creative visions never aligned. Hopefully, if he signs with AEW, that won't be the case between Wyatt and Tony Khan.
